Your grout has been professionally cleaned and sealed or newly installed — now here’s how to maintain it and keep it looking great:
DO:
Seal your grout after a professional clean or new installation — this is essential for protecting it long-term.
Use a pH-neutral cleaner only — harsh chemicals will break down the sealer.
Use a string mop of any kind — it reaches into grout lines and grooves more effectively than flat mops.
Clean 100–200 sq ft at a time — this helps avoid re-depositing dirt across larger areas.
Wet mop once per month — that’s usually enough when paired with regular dry maintenance.
Dry mop and vacuum as much as you want — this keeps dust and grit off the floor daily.
DON'T:
Don’t double-dip into your mop bucket — that just spreads dirty water around the floor.
Don’t use steam cleaners — they break down sealant and reduce grout protection.
Don’t use Swiffer-style flat pads — they push dirt into grout lines instead of removing it.
- Don’t over-mop – with each mop the dirt accumulates and gets stuck on the surface. Sticking to once a month will prolong the need for professional cleaning
